LONDONERS RELAX
ATTRACTIONS ON RIVERSIDE. Many Londoners have perforce to relax near home, on the nearby hills or in the parks and commons of the metropolis, states the “Port of London Authority.” These are familiar, but many places of interest along the Thames are not so well known. Those who avoid the weekend rush to popular riverside places and are able on week-days to seek out the historic corners on both banks of the Thames will find much of interest in the drawdocks, inns and old houses. The contemplative will go down to Kew and philosophise as the tideway pageant flows by the lawns. The adventurous will row or punt upstream from one of the boathouses above Barnes, or take the steamer to Hampton Court. All will have enjoyed a pleasant change from wartime labours, and many will be grateful that an austerity holiday has revealed attractions in their midst of which they had little inkling before.
