UPPER PLAIN MEETING

THE COMPETITION WINNERS.

(“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Upper Plain Women’s Institute was held at the residence cf Mrs E. Clement. There was a good attendance. Three, new members were enrolled. It was reported that a papier mach'e class for the making of splints met every Wednesday afternoon. Mesdames Tankersley and Clark were appointed to represent the Institute at the half yearly Council meeting of the Wairar'apa Federation at Carterton.

Arrangements were made for the birthday meeting on November 19. Keen interest was displayed in a demonstration box from ’the G.A.R. office containing papier mache dolls’ heads. The winners of competitions were: — Best bloom: Mrs Laing, 1; Mrs W. Taplin, 2; Miss McKenzie, 3. Scones: Mrs Tankersley, 1; Mrs Laing, 2; Mrs Clement, 3.
