BOWLING
* MASTERTON CLUB. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Bowling Club’s committee was held in the club pavilion when there was a full attendance of members over which Mr H. B. Thomas (president), presided. An application was received from the Wairarapa Bowling Centre for the use of the club greens for the centre fours tournament, which is to be held on January 1 and 2, 1943. The request was granted. Consideration was given to a veterans’ tournament which is to be held, and it was decided to ask members over 65 years of age who were desirous of competing to place their names on the notice board. It was decided to send a . letter of sympathy to Mr H. J. Jones in his illness and to wish him a speedy recovery. Members decided to provide morning and afternoon tea for playeis participating in the Labour Day tournament next Monday. The progressive pairs competition which was commenced last year proved popular with members, and it was decided to conduct a similar competition this year. , Ten new members were elected, ana it was resolved that old members make every effort to encourage and assist new members. ..
