REGENT THEATRE

“THE PITTSBURG KID.” “The Pittsburg Kid,” a fast thrillpacked comedy-drama starring Billy Conn, the famous boxer, will be shown at the Regent Theatre tonight and Thursday night. Billy Conn proved that he can take it. The many challengers of world’s champion, Joe Louis, could only stand up to the Brown Bomber for a few seconds. It was a different story when Billy Conn, sensation of the prize ring made Louis defend his title a few months ago and lasted thirteen phenomenal rounds. The verdict of many experts in the world of snort was that Billy Conn would have won had he not lost his head in the thirteenth round. Jean Parker has the feminine lead, and supporting roles are capably handled by Veda Ann Borg (blonde bombshell), Alan Baxter and Etta McDaniel. The associate feature will be “Meet the Missus,” a new Higgins Family comedy. Advance reports acclaim it one of the most entertaining of the popular series to date . Roscoe Karns, Ruth Donnelly, George Ernest, Lois Ranson and Spencer Charters comprise the Higgins family.
