AGAINST AMERICAN AIRMEN
INTENDED TO BOLSTER MORALE? MR HULL RESERVES COMMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11 a.m.) WASHINGTON, October 20 The Japanese threats to execute captured American airmen is, according to Washington officials, primarily intended to bolster up the Japanese morale. The officials point out that revenge and cruelty have always been an important factor in Japanese psychology. In Washington yesterday, Mr Cordell Hull Secretary of State, referring to the Japanese spokesman’s reported statement, said it was most tempting to comment on the Japanese threats, but he thought he would await more official information about the possible source of the report.
