MAURICEVILLE

WOMEN’S DIVISION MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the MauricevilleIhuraua branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held at the residence of Mrs Childs, when Mrs Cheetham presided over a fair attendance of members. Mrs Wilson reported on the housekeeping scheme and Rest Home. Every member was asked to donate one shilling towards repairing earthquake damage at the Rest Home. Several letters were read from soldiers expressing appreciation for parcels received. It was reported that a parcel of 22 flannel undershirts, 3 balaclavas and 1 pullover was ready for despatch to the Mercantile Marines. Three sacks of clean rags had been collected for the forces. It was announced that Miss G. Heckler had given a trophy to the competed for at the birthday meeting which will be held at Mrs Hodgins’s residence, Levlands.

Members' were pleased to welcome Miss Heckler back after her long absence through ill-health. The competition for the best bloom was won by Mrs E. H. Dagg, Miss Heckler being second. Afternoon tea was served.

Plunket Society.

A meeting of the Mauriceville district sub-branch of the Plunket Society was held at the residence of .Mrs R. Miller, Kopuaranga. Mrs R. Miller presided. It was decided to pay £25 to the Masterton Plunket Society towards the

nurses’ salaries. Mrs Miller stated her desire to retire from the chair at the end of the present financial year. A donation of a 17s 6d Bomber Bond was received with thanks from Mrs W. J. Cottle.

A “bring and buy” stall in charge of Mrs Wright brought in nearly £2. • Nurse Humphries, Mrs Watson. Mrs Coradine and Mrs Caselberg, of the Masterton branch, were present. .Afternoon tea was served and the visitors were presented with many beautiful blooms from Mrs Miller’s garden.
