The Associated Press of America Chungking correspondent says that, stricken by one of the worst famines of modern times, thousands of Chinese are dying in the Honan Province, where 6,000,000 people are officially reported to be on the verge of starvation. Official reports to Chungking said 18,000,000 famine refugees had clogged the roads from Honan towards Shensi and Hupeh. The situation was intensified by the necessity of supporting a large military force holding the present front against the Japanese.
