WAIRARAPA COLLEGE
MEETING OF GOVERNORS.
PRAISE FOR 'PRESENTATION OF COMIC OPERA. The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa College Board of Governors was held in Masterton last night. Mr A. Owen Jones presided in the absence of the chairman, Mr W. R. Nicol. “It was a wonderful show,” said Mr Jones, referring to the College’s recent presentation of Gilbert and Sullivan’s ■‘Pirates of Penzance.” Other board members were generous in their praise of the work put in by the producer, Mrs Gair, and her assistants: Favourable comment was passed on the principal’s action in inviting Standard 6 primary school pupils and other secondary school pupils to attend the show. Mr F. J. Gair, Acting-Principal, in his report, mentioned that Miss Bradley, a part-time dressmaking teacher, had received a permanent position on the staff of the Correspondence School. He stated that summer sports were under way and that the pupils were in training for the annual sports on November 5. The inter-collegiate oratory contest would take place at the college next month.
