(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright! (Received This Day. 11.10 a.mJ CHUNGKING, October 17.
Chungking is rapidly becoming the headquarters of Frenchmen escaping from occupied areas in the Far East and hoping to join the Fighting French. Six arrived in the last few weeks, including Squadron Leader Pierre Louyads, of the French Air Force stationed in IndoChina. He said the Japanese strength in Indo-China was only 20,000 men, most of them, including the air force, concentrated in the Saigon area. He revealed that Allied submarines, operating off the Indo-China coast, had sunk many warships and transports in the vicinity of Camranh Bay, forcing the Japanese to abandon it as a naval base.
