HEART OF AXIS POWERS IN BERLIN. VIEWS OF MR WALTER NASH. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) BOSTON, October 17. “The Pacific situation is most critical, and there is a long road ahead before the tide turns,” the New Zealand Minister to Washington, Mr Nash, told the Foreign Policy Association. “But however vital the Pacific, the prime object of this war must be to strike at the heart of the Axis Powers, which is undoubtedly located in Berlin. “Hitler without the Japanese might mahage to pull the chestnuts out of the fire, but it is very’doubtful if the Japanese without Hitler can ever achieve permanent success, though they may do irreparable harm and add enormously to the price the United Nations will ultimately pay for total victory.”
