CONTROL BOARD
FOR WAIKATO COAL MINES PERSONNEL ANNOUNCED BY MINISTER. ANTICIPATION OF EFFECTIVE TEAM WORK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister of Mines (Mr Webb) announced today .that the following would be the personnel of the Waikato Coal Mines Control Board:—The Minister of Mines (chairman), Messrs Henry Morpeth (chairman of the Waikato Colleries Association). Hendry Toke (managing director of the Wilton Colleries)' William Parsonage (superintendent ol: the Glen Afton Colleries), J. Watson (superintendent of the Taupiri Coal Mines), j. Devlin (acting-secretary of the United M.ine Workers of New Zealand), T. Hall (secretary of the Northern Miners’ Union), C. J. Strongman (superintendent of the State Coal Mines). In the absence of the Minister, Mr C. H, Benney (Under-Secretary of Mines), will act as chairman.
Mr Webb said he had accepted without hesitation the nominations submitted by the mine owners and had selected the two men who had received the greatest support at individual colleries from those nominated by the miners. The Minister also expressed his belief that the board would work together as a team to produce a maximum quantity of coal, while giving the greatest measure of safety to the workmen.
