YOUNG FARMERS

MEETING OF WAIRARAPA EXECUTIVE

CLUBS URGED TO CONTINUE ACTIVITIES.

DIFFICULTIES IN OBTAINING LECTURERS.

A recommendation by the Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs that every encouragement should be given to clubs to continue their activities to the fullest ’extent permitted by present conditions was brought under the attention of the executive of the Wairarapa Young Farmers’ Club ’at a meeting held in Masterton on Wednesday, by Mr W. James, who presided. Members Generally felt that the lead given by the Federation should be followed, although nothing could be done this year in respect to district activities.

In a discussion on the prospects of clubs carrying on, Messrs H. McKenzie and J. Rose both considered that the Carterton Club could continue to hold more or less regular meetings, but stated that great difficulty was being experienced in obtaining lecturers. The hope was expressed that possible lecturers would not allow the clubs to be without-speakers, though it was stated that many who had been approached had not been able to meet the club’s request. It was up to the older farmers and others to support the movement to the fullest possible extent.

Suggestions were made concerning the use of townspeople as lecturers and a number of possibilities were mentioned.
