BAG OF ENEMY AIRCRAFT AT MALTA

At Malta, yesterday’s hag of 23 more enemy planes brought the total for the past, four days to at least 80 raiders destroyed. Fighters attacked the enemy bombers, which were strongly escorted by fighters, well before they reached the island. Twelve bombers and 11 fighters were shot down and. another 30 enemy planes were damaged. Of these probably a. third would not get back to their base. The British loss was five Spitfires, with three of the pilots safe.
