CARRYING PRISONERS ALLEGEDLY SUNK BY BRITISH SUBMARINE. 261 OUT OF 400 SAVED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright' (Received This Day, 1.25 p.m.) LONDON, October 14. /m Italian communique states that a British submarine in the Central Mediterranean torpedoed and sank an Italian ship carrying 400 British prisoners, of whom 261 were saved. One Italian submarine, operating in the Atlantic, has not returned.
