SUFFERED BV JAPANESE AMERICAN SUBMARINES SINK FIVE SHIPS. INCLUDING HEAVY CRUISER. LONDON, October 14. A Washington communique states that United States submarines have sunk one heavy enemy cruiser, two cargo ships, a tanker and a trawler in Far Eastern waters. A third cargo ship was damaged and probably sunk, and two tankers were damaged. These losses were not announced in any previous communique.
