CO-OPERATION WITH U.S.A.
IN CRITICALLY IMPORTANT WAR AREA. COLONEL KNOX GRATIFIED. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, October 13. The Secretary for the Navy (Colonel Knox) told the Press that considerable additions to the Brazilian Fleet were now on the ways in Rio de Janeiro and nearly ready to go to sea.. These would make a material addition to naval submarine patrols. He cited this as an instance of 100 per cent co-opera-tion by the Brazilian armed forces. Colonel Knox said a large part of the activity in the Brazilian area is by air and is critically important. The Brazilian people are extremely cordial to the United States and are overwhelmingly in favour of the Brazilian Administration in its war measures.
