EKETAHUNA

WEDDING i DICK—ISAKSON. ("Times-Age” Special.) An exceptionally pretty evening wedding took place at the Methodist Church, Eketahuna, last week, when Thelma Alison, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Jack Isakson, of Kaiparoro, was married to David John, eldest son of Mr and Mrs James Dick,. of Hastwells. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. I. K. Hopper, of Eketahuna, and the Wedding March was played by the bridegroom’s aunt, Mrs George Hansen. The bride was accompanied by her father. Her fitting frock of white satin, was made with a long train, and the bodice was trimmed with orange blossoms and buttons. A long flowing veil was worn and she carried a beautiful bouquet of freesias, roses, camelias and maidenhair fern. She was presented as she left the church with a white satin covered horseshoe, by a little friend, Elaine Woolland. In attendance with . the bride, was her cousin, Miss Annie Isakson, and the bridegroom’s twin sister, Miss Avis Dick. Both were attired in pretty frocks of apricot bridal satin, and wore net veils trimmed with dainty rosebuds. Each carried a very pretty bouquet of tulips, freesias, carnations and maidenhair fern. , - u The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Robert Dick, as best man, and Mr Ken Isakson, brother of the bride, as groomsman. . . The bride’s mother was attired in a long black frock and carried a posy of freesias, camelias and maidenhair fern, and the bridegroom’s mother wore a long floral frock, and carried a posy to tone. After the ceremony the guests assembled at the Kaiparoro Hall, where a number of toasts were honoured, and the excellent wedding cake was cut and handed round; A most enjoyable dance followed. Excellent music was supplied by Mr Jack Barnes’s orchestra. Mr A. Nielson made a very capable M.C. For her going away, Mrs Dick chose an Ail’ Force blue frock, with a coat of darker shade, 1 and a hat to match. She wore a fur necklet, the gift of the bridegroom. Numerous as well as costly presents were received by Mr and Mrs Dick besides many cheques. Their future home is to be at Rongokokako. , Prior to the wedding, Miss Isakson was tendered a kitchen tea by the residents of Kaiparoro, the large number of useful articles received being evidence of her popularity. ■ Miss Isakson was presented .with a very pretty plate from the Hastwells Women’s Institute, of which she. was a past member. A presentation .was made to the young couple of a dainty cup saucer and plate by the members of the Bush Federation Executive Committee. Mr Dick was the recipient of a leather wallet from the Hastwells Tennis Club.

CARD TOURNAMENT

SOLDIERS’ COMFORTS FUND. The borough ladies’ soldiers’ comforts committee held a flag 500 tournament on Saturday evening when there was a very large attendance. Mr L. C. Christie conducted the games. Miss M. Anderson (president) presented the prizes to the following winners: —Ladies: Mesdames D. Scott and J. Burr . Men: Messrs P. Jensen and F. Hobern. The hostesses were Mesdames Christie and Handyside.

Personal Items. Mrs Jensen, Pahiatua, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs W. Robertson, Anderson Street. Mr R. Dixon, of the staff of the W.F.C.A., is an inmate of the Masterton Hospital. Mr L. M. Brown, of the staff of the Tararua Electric Power Board, who underwent an operation for appendicitis in the Pahiatua Hospital, is progressing well. , Mrs A. Gray, Parkville, who had been on a visit to Wellington has returned home. Mr F. Olsen, who met with a motor accident and had been an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, is now thb guest of his brother, Mr W. Olsen, Newman Road.
