(“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Mauriceville County Council was held yesterday afternoon. Mr E. W. Cheeth'am (chairman) presided, and there were also present: Councillors A. Gray. A. Forsberg, D. Bennett and J. H. MacDonald? Leave of absence was granted to Councillor C. Welch., .. The treasurer’s report, which showed a credit balance of £1,713 12s 2d, was adopted. , ... Advice was received froth District Engineer, Public. Work's Department. regarding subsidies approved by the Main Highways Board for the year 1942-43. . The question of providing suitable housing accommodation for council employees Was discussed at length, and the chairman was authorised to take steps in regard to the renting, nr subsequent purchase of suitable propertics Consideration of the circular received from the N.Z. Counties’ Co-opera-tive Company, Ltd., was again deferred until next meeting. A circular was received from the Waikato' Hospital Board regarding hospital taxation, and it was resolved that the council support the Board in makindirect representation to the IVLinister of Health flor a substantial increase in the payment to Hospital Boards from the Social Security Fund. A circular better was received from the N.Z. County Councils Industrial Union, of Employers asking for the council’s opinion /regarding certain reouests from local bodies, that . local bodies be declared an. essential industry The clerk was directed to reply to the effect that ‘this council does not approve of the industry being declared GS Advice was received from *he terton County Council the apportionment.of. heavy traffic fees fOT the quarter ended August 31,
