STORMY SESSION
TRUST DISCUSSION TAKEN IN COMMITTEE.
DIFFERENCE OVER RENTALS. At yesterday afternoon’s meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust, strong exception was taken by a member, Mr A. Owen Jones, to the Trust taking in committee discussion on a recommendation by the building committee that rentals for three shops in the Dental Clinic buildings l be reduced by 25 per cent from June 24 until the shop windows had been restored. “It is ridiculous to reduce all the rents by 25 per cent when one of the shops is more badly damaged than the others,” said Mr Jones. His further remarks were cut short by the chairman, Mr H. P. Hugo, who moved that the matter be taken in committee.. The motion was carried, Mr Jones registering a strong protest. The Building Committee’s recommendation was adopted. The Meteorological Department wrote offering £8 for a barograph thermograph belonging to the Trust. It was decided to lend the equipment for the duration of the war, and to notify the Department that the Trust’s valuation of the equipment was £25.
