IN ATTACKS ON MALTA AT LEAST 37 PLANES IN TWO DAYS. OTHERS SEVERELY DAMAGED

The Axis air raids on Malta continue. Nine raids were made during the day. Twenty-two Axis planes were destroyed for certain and several others were severely damaged. This brings the total to at least 37 enemy planes during raids over Malta in the last two days. ENEMY CLAIMS LARGE NUMBER OF BOMBS DROPPED. PLANES ALLEGEDLY DESTROYED ON GROUND. (Received This Day. Noon.) LONDON, October 12. The Berlin radio says 1000 medium and heavy bombs were dropped on Malta yesterday, during attacks lasting from dawn to dusk. It claims that several squadrons of Anglo-American long-range bombers and transport planes were destroyed on the ground, and that large fires were started. The raids on Malta are connected with the Libyan campaign.
