NAZI FORTS
ALONG FRENCH COAST ATTACKED BY ALLIED PLANES. NO ENEMY AIR OPPOSITION. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) RUGBY, October 12. After the successful United States and R.A.F. attack on the Lille district last Friday, Spitfires and Mustangs of the Army Co-operation Command made a number of attacks on fortified positions on the French coast. There was no fighter interference —an indication that the Luftwaffe had suffered enough damage for one day from the guns of the Fortresses and Liberators. The attacks were made from a very low level, but all the Allied planes returned safely.
