BOY SCOUTS
CHANGE IN ADMINISTRATION. TWO DISTRICTS ESTABLISHED IN WAIRARAPA. A representative meeting of interested workers was held in the Scout Den, Carterton, recently, to consider the charter of the Boy Scout Movement in the Wairarapa. The Commissioner,. Mr R. J. Barton, and his officers, and Mr A. Campbell Pearce and delegates from Masterton, Clareville, Carterton, and Greytown attended to inaugurate the transfer of the administration from a district organisation to the wider county scheme.
Hitherto a District Commissioner has controlled the Wairarapa from Martinborough to Eketahuna. From now on this area will be split into two districts—one from- Masterton northwards and the other from Clareville southwards.
Mr R. J. Barton, Ongaha, Featherston, becomes County Commissioner and District Commissioners will be appointed to the subdistricts.
Mr A. Campbell Pearce, Otahuna, Featherston, was unanimously elected the first president of the County Scout Council, which will function in collaboration with two district committees to further the interests and usefulness of the association to the boys.
