MORE PROTESTS

AGAINST VICHV PERSECUTION OF JEWS TWO MINISTERS THREATEN TO RESIGN. VICTIMS CHAMPIONED BY PRIESTS AND OTHERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) LONDON, September 28. Two members of Laval’s Cabinet, M. Barthelemy, Minister of Justice, and M. Romier, Minister without Portfolio, have threatened to resign if the persecution of Jews continues, reports Reuter’s correspondent on the French frontier. . . Many priests and members of religious orders are wearing the Star of David as a protest against the persecutions. The “Gringoire” and other collaborationist newspapers have declared that there are 2,700,000 Jews in France, who are swamping the Mediterranean coast. Neutrals estimate that there could not be more than 400,000 Jews in France in 1941. The exaggerated figure obviously is quoted with the object of stirring up a French anti-Semitism movement, which so far is unsupported. The Berlin radio quotes a Vichy report that General Nogues, GovernorGeneral of Morocco, has established concentration camps for Jews.
