REGENT THEATRE
“THE CHOCOLATE SOLDIER.” A new star with a magnificent voice plays opposite Nelson, Eddy l in “The Chocolate Soldier,” which will be shown tonight. She is Rise Stevens, of the New York Metropolitan Opera Company, and in addition to her vocal ability she brings to the part of Marie charm and dramatic talent of a high order. The picture brings to the screen all the popular Strauss melodies for which this musical comedy is noted, and in their right setting, and with two superb voices, the whole makes outstanding _ entertainment, From the acting point of view Eddy dominates the play, and must earn added respect for his performance in the role of the husband who seeks to test his wife’s fidelity. It is a difficult role to sustain, but he does it like an artist. His singing, as always, is delightful.
