IHURAUA
SURPRISE PARTY PRIVATE AND MRS JENKINS HONOURED ("Times-Age” Special.) A very pleasant time was spent at the residence of Mr and Mrs T. Dunn recently when over thirty of the settlers of the Ihuraua Valley formed a surprise party in honour of Private and Mrs R. R. Jenkins. Community singing, competitions and games were indulged in. ; On behalf of the visitors, Mr E. H. Dagg asked Pte. and Mrs Jenkins to accept a crystal salad bowl as a wedding present from the residents of Ihuraua. with best wishes for their future happiness. -Pte. Jenkins suitably replied. Mr Dunn referred to the pleasure it had given Mrs Dunn and himself that night to welcome so many friends and neighbours. He thanked the ladies for having supplied the supper. Each guest received a piece of wedding cake.
The gathering was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and hearty cheers for Pte. and Mrs Jenkins and Mr and Mrs Dunn.
