CARTERTON
PATRIOTIC DANCE
ENJOYABLE GATHERING.
("Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the weekly dance held in the State Theatre on Saturday evening, under the auspices of the Y.M.C.A. and Carterton Citizens’ Committee. The gathering, was most enjoyable. The music was supplied by Messrs Tom Udy and F. Pool’s orchestras. The M.C. was Mr L. M. Clark and the supper arrangements were controlled by the Catholic Ladies’ Committee.
Early Settlers’ Association. At the meeting of the Early Settlers’ Association in Wellington this afternoon the following presentations will be made: —Presidential chair, by the Parliament of New Zealand; presidentftil table, by Mr W. B. Allen, Carterton; memento of early days, by the Petone Borough Council. Bowling Club. A working of eight members assembled at the Carterton bowling green on Saturday afternoon and did good work in top dressing the green. Next Saturday tne ladies’ green will be top dressed. It is expected that the greens will be officially opened on Saturday, October 17. Alleged Theft. Among the cases set down for hearing at the Magistrate’s Court, Carterton, on Wednesday is one of alleged theft. Borough Council. The monthly meeting of the Carterton Borough Council will be held on Tuesday evening. A special meeting will also be held to confirm an order in connection with the N.Z. Standard Building Bylaw, 1942.
