WAR INDUSTRY

TECHNICAL TRAINING IN CANADA.

Designed to overcome the known handicap that while a man may be an excellent craftsman, he may lack the ability to impart the knowledge to others, are classes which are now in full swing at Central Technical School in Toronto and in seven other schools across Canada under the direction of the Dominion-Provincial War Training programme, the “Christian Science Monitor” reports. These classes are made up of technicians and personnel directors of war industries, who are taught for 24 hours during four days of one week, and in, the alternate weeks the instructor does field inspection work in assisting these industrial workers to instruct their foremen. The foremen, in turn, will learn how best to pass on his knowledge to less skilled workmen and to beginners. A new class starts at' the Technical School here each alternate week.

It is expected that the classes will materially assist in alleviating a serious situation which has developed because of the rapid expansion of industry and the lack of experienced foremen. The curricula outlined by the Federal Department of Labour are the same for all industries represented at the schools, as the basic principles for the instruction of teachers are the same for every industry.
