ITALIAN ACCOUNT
OF RECENT BRITISH RAID ON BENGHAZI AND OTHER OBJECTIVES IN NORTH AFRICA SOME INTERESTING DETAILS (Received This Day, 1.0 p.m.) LONDON, September 27. According to the Rome radio the British used sixty Jeeps and twenty three-ton lorries in their recent raid on Benghazi, planning to take positions in the harbour and then to signal to submarines lying offshore, ready to land commandos. The raids against Tobruk, Barce and Benghazi weer designed to destroy Axis land, sea and air organisation in the rear of Rommel’s lines, says the radio.
