STATE THEATRE
DOUBLE PROGRAMME. Another lively two-feature programme will be shown tonight at the State Theatre, commencing at 7.45 o’clock, action, excitement _ ana comedy being the main ingredients. The main picture is “The Valley of. the Sun.” It tells of the crooked dealings of an Indian agent who provokes the Indians into an uprising that is stopped only by the dashing young hero. The theme lends itself to spectacular exploitation, and there are some unusual and entertaining sequences, notably the athletic contest between the hero and an Indian bad boy. The comedy is well sustained. • “Powder Town,” the other feature, stars Victor McLaglen. He has the part of a young scientist, who is sent to some big munitions works in a town which has sprung up in a great war effort. But in the works are spies and sabotage experts, and in the defeat of .the machinations of these undesirable folk lie hundreds of feet of film excitement.
