JAPANESE FIGHTER SHOT DOWN

LONDON, September 25. A Washington communique states that yesterday enemy transports were attacked by American aircraft near Shortland Island, in the Western Solomons. Twenty Japanese fighters tried to intercept the bombers. An enemy fighter was shot down.
