APPEAL BOARD SITTING ' — LOWER VALLEY CASES DEALT WITH. MANY SINE DIE ADJOURNMENTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Sittings of the Wairarapa Armed Forces Appeal Board were held yesterday at Martinborough and Featherston. There were present: Messrs T. Jordan (chairman), L. T. Daniell and ’ F. Cole, members of the board, and Mr ' G. F. Whitlock, secretary and Crown 1 representative. In the list of appeals below the name of the person making the appeal is given in parentheses: — Adjourned sine die: Bruce A. Campbell, carpenter (Director of National Service), not to be called before November 30, 1942; Thomas E. Hibberd, lorry driver (reservist), not to be called before November 30, 1942; Herbert R Frew, dairy farmer (E. Frew), not to be called before May 31, 1943; Ben R. L. Atkinson, farmhand (Wairarapa Primary Production Council), not to be called before January 31, 1943; Ronald A. Lett, storekeeper (reservist), not to be called before January 31, 1943; Douglas S. Ross, shearer (M. V. Reed, shearing contractor), not to be called before February 1, 1943. A number of appeals against service in the Home Guard were also heard. These were from farm workers, drovers, a slaughterman, a mail service, contractor and blacksmith, an engineer and electrician, and a grader driver. In practically every case sine die adjournments were granted. Seventeen men were recommended for release from camp. These included farm workers, a shearing contractor, a sawmill hand, shearers, carpenters and bricklayers.
