FEATHERSTON
ST. JOHN’S CHURCH MEETING OF LADIES’ GUILD. (“Times-Age" Special.) The members of St. John's Church Ladies’ Guild held their monthly meeting at Mrs Bloxam’s home yesterday afternoon. Two competitions were held and were won by Mrs Muscroft-Taylor and by Mrs Halpin. The sale of various garden products realised the sum of £2 15s. The tea hostesses were Mesdames C. Edwards, G. M. Browne and J. Halpin. Personal. The funeral of the late Mr Edward Hosking took place at the Featherston Cemetery yesterday afternoon. The Rev. J. R. Higgs officiated at the church and graveside. The pall-bear-ers were Messrs J. Ruane, W. Fellingham, Chas. Buck, J. and H. Feist and J. Farrier. The late Mr Hosking was a very old resident of Featherston and had been a railway employee for many years. He leaves a family of three Miss Eliza Hosking, Mrs D. B. Farrier and Mr B. G. Hosking . His wife predeceased him two years ago. Severe Thunderstorm. Featherston was visited by a severe 1 thunderstorm about five o'clock last evening, which was followed by heavy rain and hail and wind of gale force.
