Britain now has three out of every four available people mobilised on war work—a bigger proportion than any other country. The Minister of Labour, Mr Bevin, said there were 33,000,000 people in Britain between the ages of 14 and 65, and of these 25,500,000 were now in the forces or in full-time work of national importance. These figures do not include many voluntary workers in other services who are doing essential work. The country’s average working week in the factories is now 56 hours, Mr Bevin said.
