GREAT EXPANSION
SHIPBUILDING IN CANADA. OTTAWA, September 15. Shipbuilding in Canada is expanding rapidly. During the past year orders placed increased by over 50 per cent and exceed in value 750 million dollars. Since the beginning of the war Canada has launched over 200 combat ships, including corvettes, mine-sweep-ers, patrol boats and base ships. From a mere handful of men engaged in shipbuilding the personnel of Canadian shipyards has grown to 40,000 workers.
