AMERICAN AIR FORCE IN CHINA MANY ENEMY AIRCRAFT DESTROYED. NUMEROUS EFFECTIVE RAIDS. LONDON, September 21. The headquarters of the American Air Force in China state that during July and August American pilots shot down 23 Japanese planes, destroyed at least 30 on the ground and probably destroyed at least six more. In the same period 33 bombing raids were made on Japanese positions without the loss of one bomber. Five fighters failed to return.
