HIT & RUN RAID

ON BRITISH COAST TOWN BLOCK OF FLATS HIT BY BOMB. ONLY TWO PERSONS INJURED. LONDON, September 21. An enemy raider attacked a town on the south-east coast of England. Bombs fell amongst some houses and a block of flats received a direct hit. The raid was over in a minute. The plane then machine-gunned the streets. Only two people were injured. INTRUDERS TURNED BACK UNABLE TO FACE GROUND DEFENCES. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) RUGBY, September 21. An enemy aircraft this morning dropped bombs at a place on the southeast coast of England. Some damage was done, but there were no serious njuries. This evening two German planes crossed the south-e&st coast, but they immediately turned back when the ground defences went into action.
