MOTOR ACCIDENT

SOLDIER SERIOUSLY INJURED. (" T 1 mes-A go ” Special.) As the result of a motor car crashing into a Power Board pole on the main road in the vicinity of Kent Street, Carterton, about 2.30 o’clock this morning, the two occupants of the vehicle were injured. Gunner IL D. Wilsop, who was returning to camp from Waipukurau, was very badly cut about the face and otherwise injured, and H. Ihiaia Hutana, of Porangahau, was injured to a lesser extent. Accompanied by Dr. Oakey, Dr. Wells was quickly on the scene of the accident. Gunner Wilson was removed to the Greytown Hospital in an unconscious condition. Hutana was taken into Mr Chatwin’s residence, and later was also taken to the Greytown Hospital. He is suffering badly from shock. When the accident happened Hutana was driving the car, and it is alleged that he fell asleep at the wheel. From inquiries made this afternoon it was ascertained that Gunner Wilson’s condition is critical.
