MR WILLKIE TO SUCCEED MR HULL. AS SECRETARY OF STATE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 20. The “Daily Mirror” says: “A noted Washington social celebrity, with White House connections,” said an agreement had been reached before the departure of Mr Wendell Willkie, that he succeed Mr Cordell Hull as Secretary of State after his return. The informant adds that Mr Hull has been in ill health for some time. ‘ He was even interviewed by the Jananese envoys, before the Pearl Harbour attack, while confined to bed.
