CRASH OF BOMBS
HEARD AGAIN IN MUNICH SAAR VALLEY ALSO ATTACKED FIGHTERS ACTIVE OVER NORTHERN FRANCE. COASTAL COMMAND RAIDS ENEMY SHIPPING. LONDON, September 20. Munich, which has heard more of Hitler’s speeches than any other town in Germany, last night heard the crash of big bombs and the crackling of big fires when a large force of R.A.F. planes raided the city. Full details of flic raid are not yet available.
Last night's raid was the tenth on Germany this month and the first on Munich since November 8, 1940, Munich was not the only target. Another force of bombers attacked the Saar Valley, one of the headquarters of Germany's heavy industries. Fighters attacked railway objectives in Occupied France and Coastal Command aircraft during the night attacked enemy shipping oil’ the Dutch coast. From these widespread attacks ten bombers did not come back. Over this country two enemy planes were destroyed when a town on the north-east coast was attacked. There were a number of casualties, but little material damage was done. GERMANS IN FRANKFURT EXECUTED FOR UNDERMINING RESISTANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, September 19. Dispatches from Germany to Berne; Switzerland, state that six Germans from Frankfurt were executed on Thursday for “attempting to undermine the resistance of the people during war.”
B.OOOLB. BOMB BRITAIN'S LATEST PRESENT FOR GERMANY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 19. The fact that the R.A.F. is now dropping a bomb of 80001 b. on Germany was disclosed yesterday by the Air Ministry, which said that some of the heavy damage caused in Dusseldorf and Karlsruhe recently was done by this new bomb. Karlsruhe was attacked on the night of September 2 and Dusseldorf on the night, of September 10. Two hundred and seventy acres of Karlsruhe and 370 acres of Dusseldorf were laid waste, and other areas of the towns were severely damaged. LARGE_FIRES STARTED IN MUNICH. The Air Ministry states: “Our bombers were over Southern and Western Germany in strength last night. . A force of heavy bombers attacked objectives in Munich and started large fires. Another force of bombers attacked industrial centres in the Saar Valley. Aircraft of the Fighter Command, in offensive patrols over occupied territory, attacked railway engines and goods trains. Objectives at Munich included railway communications and the Baverische motor works.
