BACON FOR BRITON

CANADIAN CONSUMERS ASKED TO ABSTAIN. DURING NEXT SEVEN WEEKS. OTTAWA, September I'4. To ensure the continuance of the British bacon ration at the present level, the Hon J. G. Taggart, chairman of the Bacon Board, is appealing to consumers throughout Canada not. to buy fresh pork, bacon or ham during the next seven weeks. In furtherance of the appeal the Bacon Board is reducing to 50 per cent of normal weekly sales in 1940 the quantity of bacon and pork which may be sold on the domestic market. It is expected that the situation will be relieved early in November, when additional hogs will.be marketed.
