46 YEARS’ PUBLIC SERVICE. The Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, sent a telegram to Mr J. W. Card, Mayor of Featherston, on the occasion of his completion of 46 years of local body service. Mr Jordan conveyed his warmest congratulations to Mr Card on his remarkable record of public service.

Writing in acknowledgment of the telegram, Mr Card said he had spent his anniversary between his office, the Featherston Borough Office and • the waterworks at Featherston. His own partner was in hospital, the Town Clerk was in hospital and the waterworks inspector had recently died in hospital. Mr Card added that he was carrying on.
