A Sydney message says that as part of a drastic comb-out of industry, waitresses are to be diverted from employment in restaurants to work m hospitals and textile mills. This may mean eventually that it will not be possible for thousands of city workers to lunch in cafes. It was announced on Thursday that all male restaurant employees are also wanted for Army service or war production occupations. Requests by the Restaurant Proprietors’ Association that restaurants shall be granted protection under the national security regulations have been rejected.
