SALE AT ADDINGTON FAT STOCK IN DEMAND. HIGHEST PRICES OF SEASON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September IG. Today’s Addington market produced the season’s highest values for fat stock, entries being small in most sections. The store sheep entry was considerably larger than last week with a heavier entry of ewe hoggets. Though prices showed only a slight advance, competition was much keener. The hoggets were all of good quality. Best price for ewes was 36s 3d, the next being 32s 3d. Best for halfbred ewe hoggets was 28s 3d. A pen of wether hoggets realised 26s Bd. Best ewes with lambs at foot made from 14s lid to 15s 6d. For fat sheep, prices were the highest ol the season, an average rise of 4s a head on last week’s being recorded. A truck of Fcilding wethers made from 49s 7d to 53s 7d, averaging 51s. One line of hoggets ranged from 37s 7d to 40s 7d. Ewes made tc 46s lOd. Fat cattle values went up to a high level, a further all-round increase of 25s a head for prime quality being recorded. Choppers’ values were about 10s higher, average price per lb. lOd to 11 '/ad. Bacon prices showed a further rise of from 3s to 6s a head. MASTERTON SALE LATE RATES FOR FAT SHEEP. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on their sale at Masterton yesterday: —There was an average attendance. The entry of sheep was small, consisting mainly of fats, which sold at late rates. A number of Jersey cows in milk and springing Jersey heifers were offered, and sold at satisfactory prices. The following are the realisations: —Fat sheep: Wethers. 32s to 275: ewes, 24s to 225; hoggets,. 28s, 24s 6d to 20s; b.f. hoggets, 235. Store sheep: W.W. hoggets, 24s Id to 235. Dairy cattle: Jersey cows in milk, £lO, £9 10s to £8; Jersey cows at drop, £lO to £7 ss; springing Jersey heifers, £7 7s 6d; 2-yr. empty Jersey heifer, £3 17s 6d. Weaner pigs: 31s, 30s, 27s 6d to 25s 6d. PAHIATLA SALE SHEEP AND PIG VALUES FIRM. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on their Pahiatua sale:—Medium entries of all classes came forward and were offered to a fair attendance of the public. Values for sheep and pigs remained firm on late rates, but realisations in the dairy section receded a little on previous sales. Fat sheep and cattle remained firm on late rates, and a good clearance was made at auction. Quotations:—Fat wethers, 38s 6a to 335; fat ewes, 24s to 225; w. hoggets (medium) 22s 9d; cull ewe hoggets,, 16s 6d; medium ewe hoggets, 24s 9d. Fat cows, £9 to £5; fat heifers, £7 5s to £6 ss: store cows, £3 10s to £5; springing cows, good, £l3 to £10; medium, £9 to £7; springing heifers good, £ll to £9; medium, £8 15s to £6 10s; small, £6 to £7. Weaner pigs: 33s to 38s; stores, £2 2s 6d to £2 10s.
