R.A.F. FIGHTERS
OFFENSIVE OVER NORTHERN FRANCE SEVERAL ENEMY PLANES DESTROYED. ' AT COST OF ONE BRITISH MACHINE. LONDON, September 16. R.A.F. fighters were on the offensive today on the Northern French coast. They were over the German fighter, base at Abbeville without seeing any sign of the enemy. They had a short but sharp engagement with 30 enemy fighters, several of which they bagged. One British fighter is missing. CHERBOURG DOCKS ATTACKED BY COASTAL COMMAND. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) RUGBY, September 16. The-Air Ministrv stated that Coastal Command aircraft last night, without loss, attacked the docks at Cherbourg.
