COMFORTS FOR NAVY

.AND MERCANTILE MARINE NEW ZEALAND EFFORTS. COMMENDED BY SIR C. NEWALL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Opening the proceedings of the New Zealand Navy League War Council yesterday, the Governor-General, Sir C. Newall, said mere was not a single operation being undertaken which was not dependent in some measure on the Royal Navy and the Merchant Navy. He asked the League to give all possible encouragement to the Sea Cadet movement. The more Sea Cadets he saw about the country the better he would be pleased. He was much impressed by the large number of warm comforts despatched overseas to the Navy League comforts supply in London, and also by the ample provision made for men in New Zealand waters and for young men leaving New Zealand to join the Royal Navy and Fleet Air Arm. Sir C. Newall mentioned that Woodford House School and its Old Girls’ Association were providing 19j tons of honey for the smaller ships operating from British ports and bases, and thanked New Zealand women generally for a generous supply of comforts for seafarers of the United Nations.
