Thirteen persons, including several Conservative generals, were held for investigation when the Government of Nicaragua, in central America, obtained evidence of a revolutionary movement sponsored by the Axis, The plotters are alleged to have been by local Nazi and Fascist sympathisers, a cablegram states. The President, General Anastasio Somoza, said: “I have evidence that Axis agents and political opponents planned my assassination. The plot was frustrated. Everything is now under control. Peace will be kept.” No details were given.
