UNEASY SUSPICIONS
STILL HELD BY SOVIET PUBLIC SUPPOSED INFLUENCE OF MUNICHITES. IN BRITAIN AND UNITED STATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, September 14. Observing that the Soviet public remain bitterly disappointed at the nonrealisation of the second front in Europe, Reuter’s special Moscow correspondent says: “With or ’Without justification, a firm conviction prevails that Munichites of England and Ame- . rica are braking the wheels of aid to Russia behind the scenes. This is believed to be specidlly so where the weighing up of the military technical pros and cons of a second front are concerned.” The foreign editor of the Moscow “Pravda” states the opinion that the “diplomatic liquidation of Munich will attain its aim only when it is sup- / ported by broad, practical measures directed to the rapid defeat of the Hitlerites,” and Reuter’s correspondent comments on this: “A clearer indication could not be demanded of the prevalent view that a second front would be realised this year but for the influence of the Munichites. “It would be an error to pass over this state of mind lightly, treating it merely as natural in the circumstances but otherwise of no consequence. If the Soviet view is erroneous, it would be well for steps to be taken to correct it.
