The Uuited States War Production Board has ordered the conservation of all chemical fertilisers in 33 States, reducing the consumption of nitrogen by 20 per cent, and banning the use of nitrogen fertilisers on golf coutses, cemeteries, lawns and non-commercial plantings. Sydney, Nova Scotia. —After a century’s absence the beaver Canada s symbol of industry and perseverance, has returned to that portion of Cape Breton. Nova Scotia, comprised in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and is again carrying on the work of constructing lodges and dams as its ancestors did in other years. As an addition to the aims of the park toward the conservation of Canadian wild life, the beaver were brought to the park and released four years ago. Latest reports made by Mr L. B. Gillis, agent of' the Canadian National Railways, indicate that they are multiplying rapidly. Mr Gillis claims that the scenery of the Cape Breton National Park equals that of any other park in Canada. This game reserve contains a splendid golf course, and is encircled by the famous Cabot Trail.
