MASTERTON CLUB. The singles championship was nearly brought to its conclusion this. week. A. Gray is in the final and will, meet the winner of the Andrews v. Pickering game. The following are the results:—E. Mooney 26 beat Freeman 11; Ihaka 26 beat Lewis 7; Read 15 beat Hearps 9; A. Gray 20 beat Stewart 9; Pickering 21 beat E. Mooney 14; Read 19 beat Morgan 18; A. Gray 27 beat Read 19; Andrews 22 beat Ihaka 18. In the progressive pairs competition the skips section was won by C. Pickering with six vzins and one loss. The leads section left McErlich and Stewart each with five„ wins and two losses, McErlich winning on points by 95 to 91. The points prize in the “treble” was won by C. Andrews with 79 points, J. Dewar being runner-up with 70. It was decided to hold the closing social on Tuesday next.
