POWERFUL ATTACK
ON JAPANESE SUPPLY BASE AT AKYAB R.A.F. BOMBERS SCORE HITS ON SHIPS. IN SPITE OF STRONG OPPOSITION. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.5 a.m.) RUGBY, September 10. R.A.F. bombers made a successful attack on an enemy supply ship and escort at Akyab, according to a New. Delhi announcement. The attack was pressed home despite strong fighter opposition and anti-aircraft fire. . Several direct hits were scored on ships at a jetty and also among goods being unloaded. Four of our bombers failed to return.
